Mystic Knotwork

I love using nautical rope and knot decor in many of my design projects and am always looking for new ideas and product lines that I can incorporate into my home.  Recently, I came across a family run business called Mystic Knotwork  located in Mystic, Connecticut that I just had to share. Mystic Knotwork hand makes all of its rope and knot decor items –  a tradition that has been carried on by owner Matthew Beaudoin’s  family for generations. They’ve perfected the art of macramé, splicing, sennit work, and other fancy knot work to  create a variety of home decor items and even jewelry that you’ll absolutely fall in love with.

If you’re “tying the knot” or even just having a dinner party, take a peak at the white nautical coasters, napkin rings, and center piece place cards. If you’re accessorizing a book shelf or desk,  a monkey fist paper weight is a great addition. I’m so excited to share with you some pictures I’ve taken of the ways I’ve used Mystic Knotwork items in my home.

I also love the  monkey fist curtain tiebacks!  A perfect accessory to a nautical or beach inspired room!

Mystic Knotwork also  has the largest selection of woven rope sailor bracelets I have ever seen! Traditionally, wearing a sailor bracelet has represented the love of the ocean. Whether you’re looking for a white sailor bracelet, or fashion forward bracelets outlined in bright satin, there is no doubt that you will find the perfect one for you or as a special gift!

Captain’s Quarters

When thinking about decorating your nautically inspired home, do not forget your bedroom!   There are so many great ways to keep your bedroom a comfortable, peaceful &  tranquil environment while still keeping with a coastal nautical theme and not going ‘overboard ‘.  I have found some beautiful bedrooms to share with you and perhaps inspire you to create your perfect Captain’s Quarters!

Nautical Table Decor!

I had a great shopping experience today that I just had to share it with all of you. Until today, I have been using my 30 year old Lenox wedding china for special occasions, which does not work with my nautical seashore decor. Today that has changed, as I finally found and  purchased the most beautiful dishes on One Kings Lane that will look wonderful on my dining room table. Without a doubt, these dinner and salad dishes will be my new special occasion dishes!

Although I will not receive this order for a week or two, I am already planning my first dinner party to “show off” my newest dishes and table decor! I will post again when my table is set and ready for my dinner guests, but until then I hope you have the chance to visit One Kings Lane’s special “Coastal Setting” sale, and are inspired by the nautical-coastal inspired tabletop as I was!

Happy Shopping!!!!!!

Something Extra!: Here’s some other pieces in the One Kings Lane collection that I just love!

Seaside Rugs!

Whether you live by the shore or are inland, your home can reflect the love of all things nautical.  An easy update for any room is a new rug.  Big or small, solids or stripes, cotton or braided – there are so many nautical and sea inspired rug themes to add the nautical touch you may be looking for.  I generally do not like to cover a beautiful hardwood or tile floor, but the right size rug will anchor your room design.  There are so many areas to use  beautiful and fun nautical rugs so let your inner designer come out!  Remember, your feet need someplace to wipe the sand off!!!!

Luck O’ the Irish!

It is not too late to add a touch of green to your home for St. Patrick’s Day. I have found some clever pictures to share with you today that may inspire you to do a little decorating for the weekend!

May good luck be your friend

In whatever you do

And may trouble be always

A stranger to you
