Brahmin ‘Starfish’ Handbags!!!!

I’m so excited to share with you an AMAZING find that will bring nautical flare to your spring and summer wardrobe. I’m pretty particular when it comes to handbags. I like my bags and wallets to be well made, easy to use, and I always love brands that are made in America. Recently, I came across the ‘Nautical Style Collection by Brahmin and fell in love! I treated myself to the ‘Anytime Tote’ and ‘Soft Checkbook Wallet’ and I couldn’t resist the ‘Annabelle Satchel’ for my daughter!

I love the fact that Brahmin is a family-owned handbag company producing classically beautiful and functional handbags that are of the highest quality. Each bag is made in Rhode Island, and of course I love their schooner logo! Here’s some of my favorite pieces from the nautical collection. Happy Shopping!!

Nautical Table Decor!

I had a great shopping experience today that I just had to share it with all of you. Until today, I have been using my 30 year old Lenox wedding china for special occasions, which does not work with my nautical seashore decor. Today that has changed, as I finally found and  purchased the most beautiful dishes on One Kings Lane that will look wonderful on my dining room table. Without a doubt, these dinner and salad dishes will be my new special occasion dishes!

Although I will not receive this order for a week or two, I am already planning my first dinner party to “show off” my newest dishes and table decor! I will post again when my table is set and ready for my dinner guests, but until then I hope you have the chance to visit One Kings Lane’s special “Coastal Setting” sale, and are inspired by the nautical-coastal inspired tabletop as I was!

Happy Shopping!!!!!!

Something Extra!: Here’s some other pieces in the One Kings Lane collection that I just love!

Mirror, Mirror On The Wall

Mirrors can be your best friend when it comes to interior design. They can enhance your space, and if you’re dealing with a small space, give the illusion of a bigger area.

I love to use mirrors in my decorating projects.  Finding the right mirror has never been easier as there are so many sources online and in home stores everywhere.

If you have collection of seashells, driftwood, sea glass or even starfish, you can easily create your own one of a kind mirror to hang in your home. If DIY is not for you then I have some great resources for you to check out to find just the right mirror for your interior design project!

Whimsical Table Settings

Yesterday, while browsing in Hildreth’s in Southampton, NY, I came across a very clever set of napkin rings, made by a company called Table Transformations based in Boca Raton, FL. These shiny chrome rings caught my eye right away, when I saw them set up on a table display in the store, and I knew I just had to have them.

The napkin rings come in a set of four rings with magnetic interchangeable, whimsical embellishments, which the company calls “whimsies.” From starfish, to anchors, to bumble bees, and even snowflakes, the possibilities are endless. Additional whimsies can be purchased in sets of four.

I couldn’t decide which whimsie I loved most, so I ended up leaving with three sets! These napkin rings look great with any color or printed napkin, and can be used for any event from a casual outdoor picnic, to a formal dinner party. I can’t wait to use mine at my next dinner party!

Here’s some of my favorite Whimsies from the Table Transformations Website:

Seashells & Vases

Vases are not just for flowers anymore. A quick and inexpensive way to spruce up your home for summer is to break out those glass vases or dishes you may have hidden in your cabinets. These vases look great when filled with seashells, sea glass and other natural materials that are easily found at the beach.

Vases whether big or small can be used, and are readily and affordably found  in Pottery Barn, Home Goods and Target. You can even use a vase left over from a floral delivery.

I will admit that it can take time to find enough “perfect” shells or perfectly smoothed and weathered pieces of sea glass, but the search is the fun part of the project.  If you don’t have the time to comb the beaches in search of shells, or if you don’t live near a beach, there are many great places to buy shells in bulk.

I recently purchased an assortment of starfish from S.T. Prestons in Greenport, NY.  They also carry a wide variety of seashells large and small.  Once you’ve got a vase, and some shells or glass to use, it’s time to make your display. Make sure your vases are clean and begin layering your favorite things in them, for a perfect display on a coffee table, shelf or mantle.
